What is a WagTag?

WagTag is a free smart pet ID tag designed to quickly reunite lost pets with their owners. Each tag features a unique QR code that, when scanned, instantly alerts you — without displaying your phone number on the tag itself.

 

How does WagTag work?

1. Go to www.wagtag.com.au and request your free tag.

2. Download the WagTag App. Available on both iOS and Android.

3. Add your pet’s details and scan the tag to activate it.

4. Attach the tag to your pet’s collar.

5. If your pet is found, the tag can be scanned and you'll receive a notification with the contact details of the person who found your pet.

 

What makes WagTag different from other pet tags?

Unlike traditional tags, WagTag shows no personal details printed on the tag — not even your phone number. You decide what information is shown when someone scans your pet’s tag, and you can update it anytime through the app.

 

Is WagTag really free?

Yes. WagTag is 100% free. We don’t charge for the tag or the service.

 

Do I need the app to use WagTag?

Yes, to register your pet, manage their profile, and receive pet found alerts. Going on holidays? Ask a friend to install the WagTag app and they will receive pet found alerts too.

 

Can I use WagTag for multiple pets?

Yes. The WagTag app supports multiple pet profiles, each with its own tag.

 

What if I find a pet with a WagTag?

Just scan the QR code with your smartphone. You’ll instantly see the pet’s name, relevant info, and be able to share your contact information with the pet owner. No app or login required.

 

How do I control what others see when they scan the tag?

You can customize what info is shown (e.g. vet, and medical info) via the WagTag app. Your phone number and location are never printed or exposed unless you choose to share them.

WagTag is free for pet owners. To help cover operating costs, we occasionally share relevant, pet-friendly offers. We’re committed to keeping the service free while only sending information we believe adds real value.
