WagTag Friends

More people looking out for your pets
If your pet is reported lost or found, you want to know as soon as possible. But you can’t always be watching your phone. You might be driving, in a meeting, asleep or simply away from your device when a notification arrives.
If an accident or sudden illness leaves you unable to return home, your pets may need someone else to care for them. Even the people closest to you may not realise your pets need help unless someone lets them know.
WagTag Friends helps keep trusted people informed, giving your pets more people who can look out for them when you can’t respond straight away.
How WagTag Friends works
Adding a friend starts with their mobile phone number. Open the Friends screen in the WagTag app, tap + Add Friend, enter their number and send an invitation.
If your friend already uses WagTag, they’ll receive a friend request in the app. If they don’t have WagTag yet, they’ll receive an SMS with a link to download it. They can then open the app and accept your invitation.
Once they accept, your friend will receive app notifications when your pet is reported lost or found. This helps them stay informed and offer support.
A helping hand if you miss an alert
It’s a good idea to add trusted family members, friends or a neighbour who knows your pets. If you miss a notification, someone else you trust may see it and help you follow up.
Having a few trusted people connected is particularly useful when you’re travelling, busy at work or relying on someone else to look after your animals. Talk with them about how they could help, and make sure they’ve accepted your invitation and have WagTag notifications enabled.
Help for your pets in an emergency
Your WagTag friends play an important role if you use a WagTag Emergency Keyring. If something happens to you, a first responder or another person assisting you can scan the keyring’s QR code and follow the prompts to send an alert. Your WagTag friends are then notified that your pets may need care.
They can follow up and arrange for someone to check on your pets, provide food and water, or help with their usual care. Adding trusted friends in advance means those connections are already in place when they’re needed.
Stay connected through your news feed
WagTag Friends also lets you see and interact with each other’s news feed content. You can share pet photos and updates, follow what your friends are posting and stay connected through the everyday moments you enjoy with your animals.
